Measure Window for Inside Mount Blinds

Measure Width

Measure inside the window frame horizontally in 3 places to the nearest 1/8 inch: top, middle and bottom.                                                            The shortest measurement is your width.

Measure Height Inside Mount

Measure Height

Measure inside the window frame vertically in 3 places to the nearest 1/8 inch: left, middle and right.
The longest measurement is your height.

The shortest measurement is your depth.

Outside Mount Blinds and Shades

Outside Measure Width

Measure Width

Measure horizontally to the nearest 1/8 inch between the outer-most points where you want your window treatments placed. For optimal light control, it’s recommended to overlap each side of the window frame by at least an additional 3/4 inch.

Outside Measure Height

Measure Height

Measure vertically to the nearest 1/8 inch from the top of where you want the window treatment to be installed (headrail location) to the top of the window sill, or measure to point of desired length if there is no  window sill.

Inside Mount Inside Frame

Inside Mount (inside the window frame)

Choose this mount type if you have a minimum depth between 1″ and 2″ (for some types of blinds you may need more) to create a clean integrated look. Consider the type of product you wish to mount inside the frame as the headrail and valance may protrude from the window frame instead of being flush although for certain window coverings, some protrusion is common.

Outside Mount (on the window frame)

Mount your shades or blinds on top of the window frame when Inside Mount is not an option because there is not enough depth for the window furnishing or when you want more coverage to darken the room

Outside Mount On the Frame
Outside Mount Above Frame

Outside Mount (above the window frame)

The most dramatic way to mount your shades or blinds (again when there is not enough room to mount them inside) because it makes your window appear larger, adds visual drama to your room and provides superior light control.
