High-Lite shades or Zebra blinds alternate horizontal bands of opaque-colored fabric with sheer inlays in a continuous piece of fabric to allow a balance of natural light and privacy unlike any other window treatment. When lowered, opaque bands will overlap with the sheer inlays for privacy and room darkening. Raise the shades a little to align the opaque bands and let the filtered light come through the sheer fabric to create a soft and peaceful look similar to that of a Venetian blind. When the shade is raised completely, it disappears into its decorative curved aluminum cassette and allows you to completely take in the outdoor view. You can also position it anywhere in between for a custom look that provides privacy, light filtering and views outside
Light Filtering
High Lite Shades can be made in an assortment of light filtering fabrics that let you control your light and privacy and match your décor. Affordable and versatile, these zebra blinds allow the sunlight to come through the sheer strips when the horizontal fabric strips in the front and back overlap, while the light gets filtered and privacy is achieved when the shaded fabric strips are interlaced.
Room Darkening
If you like the look and style of high-lite shades that have recently become very popular in Calgary, you can get them in a variety of dark colors to suit your environment. With darkening fabric strips alternating with sheer strips, you can still get the see-through and the light coming in through the sheer strips, but if you stagger them so that the sheers are covered by the dark colored fabrics, you can block out the light and darken the room where you have them installed.
